Our Recent Trainings

In late August, I (Alison) had the opportunity to begin bodywork training with Maka’ala Yates, a native Hawaiian and carrier of a deep and rich lineage of Hawaiian bodywork and healing arts. Attending his first offering of Mana Lomi, I learned the foundations of Lomi Lomi, a hands-on healing modality passed down for generations on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have been enjoying integrating these new techniques and philosophies into my healing sessions.

Last week, Michael completed Maka’ala’s core Mana Lomi trainings, attending a class on the Kona side of Hawaii Island where this healing art has been practiced and refined for over 800 years(!!). In this most recent course, Michael learned the pivotal techniques of Ho’onoho’iwi, or Hawaiian Bone Resetting: a gentle approach to using bone levering to correct alignment issues rooted in soft tissue. He has already seen some impressive results, and will be incorporating this practice into his regular bodywork sessions to provide longer-lasting wellness to any client in need.
